My reply to reader: “Peace is a distant dream…”

A reader asked me: “How good is space for tranquility? For peace?”

Tranquility here comes only when you sleep in your cabin, when there is no work to do. :)

Max running

By the way, compared to Earth, muscles and the body recover faster here. In about three hours you get a good rest and return to a good condition.

For example, here I am working out at the treadmill.

You run for five kilometers, and the legs feel tired. Then you unbuckle yourself, float for a minute or two. Your muscles make you take a fetal position, your legs draw in. After a few minutes afloat you recover completely. And can go on with running.

How fantastic it must be to work out in space. Although I don't think I'm brave enough to get into those space shuttles...I'm afraid of airplanes! LOL,

I am a road cycling fanatic and bike about 50 kms everyday 6 times a week, and every three weeks I have to take 4-5 day to recover because my muscles hurt!

I love your blog and what you are doing.

Be safe. Keep blogging.

Perhaps mankind needs to relocate to a more dense planet than earth. The extra gravity will keep us too tired to fight with each other.

About author

What’s everyday life on the International Space Station like? Maksim Suraev, who is on a six-month stint at the orbital outpost, has the answer.

Maksim is the first Russian cosmonaut to start a blog from zero-g. His accounts of orbital life and fresh photos from space are published on the website of the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos. RT gives its English-speaking audience the chance to read them too.
