As some of Russia's top tennis players prepare for the U.S. Open, and others are more concerned by Russian Premier League football. Anastasia Myskina, the first Russian woman ever to win a Grand Slam, is using her time off court through injury to develop a new career.
She was the first Russian woman ever to win a Grand Slam at the French Open in 2004. Anastasia Myskina has won over $US 5 MLN on the Women’s Tour and helped Russia to back Fed Cup titles in 2004 and 2005.
But recent injuries this year have seen her adding a new string to her bow – as the anchor of NTV's football show. And she is already proving a hit with her new colleagues.
“Anastasia has come in to bring us a new audience. She is working hard and learning really fast. It’s good to work with her,” Dmitry Fedorov, programme editor and co-presenter, says.
After recording the show she took the time to talk to Sport Today about tennis, television and her rumoured retirement.
