Tighter rules for Russian flights

Published 20 August, 2007, 15:45

Air passengers will face extra restrictions when they travel from Russia starting from next Monday. These measures have become the norm for places like the U.S. and the EU, after attempts by suspected terrorists to carry explosive liquids onto a plane in London last summer.

Up to a litre of fluids, in containers no larger than 100 milliliters will be allowed aboard, with everything else having to go in the hold.  .

Only alcohol bought at the airport duty free will be allowed on board as hand luggage, but is not allowed to be opened during the flight.

New black lists of people considered a potential security threat will be drawn up and will include those who have been drunk on a plane.
