The fossilised remains of a dinosaur from the Jurassic period have been discovered by a group of young palaeontologists near the city of Ulyanovsk in Russia's Volga region.

This particular pliosaur is a particularly large specimen, reaching fifteen metres in length. It's estimated to be 50 MLN years older than other remains found in the Volga region in the past.

Up to five dinosaur skeletons are found in the area every year.
