Independents race to join Russian presidential poll

Independent candidates in Russia's presidential poll have just hours to hand in two million signatures of support. Former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and Andrey Bogdanov are expected to make the deadline, allowing them to join three other men in the race.
One-and-a-half months remain before Russia's presidential vote.
So the race is entering its final mile. And while all contenders talk about finishing in the Kremlin, in this race competition for the silver looks much tougher than for the gold.
The other candidates for the presidency include favourite Dmitry Medvedev, communist Gennady Zyuganov and liberal democrat Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
