‘Signals from Obama are positive’ – Medvedev

Published 10 March, 2009, 15:44

President Dmitry Medvedev is going to discuss non-proliferation, the fight against terrorism and the global economic crisis at his first talks with Barack Obama on the sidelines of the G20 summit in London.

Medvedev made the announcement at a meeting with the members of an American commission studying US policy towards Russia, Ria Novosti news agency reports.

“The signals that I get from Barack Obama seem quite positive,” Medvedev said.

The Russian President noted that in recent years Russia-US relations have “considerably deteriorated”.

“It upsets us. But now there’s a possibility to open a new page in Russia-US relations,” he said.

The G20 summit will take place on April 1-2.
