I live at Ft Hood, what happened today was utterly tragic. The shooter is still alive and in military custody. I work at Scott & White hospital, it has been hectic. We still don't have much information on what caused this to happen, and the base is completely locked down right now, no one in or out.
The shooter is Major Hasan who remains alive. He was quoted by another officer as opposing the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and openly stated that Islam should stand up and oppose America. When he was told he would be deployed to Afghanistan he vehemently objected. He later killed 12 innocent people and wounded 31 Near Killeen,Tx at the Fort Hood Army base. American Democrats oppose racial profiling. Politics have interfered in preventing such killings. As a side note. I have trained at Fort Hood. Only the military police can carry loaded firearms while walking on the base.The Major was able to shoot and reload. A police woman wounded Major Hasan but he was able to return fire and wound her also. Several soldiers on base were able to close the doors on many buildings to prevent other people from wandering onto the firefight. The 31 wounded managed to survive at nearby Scott and White Hospital which I have also been to. They have excellent doctors and modern facilities.
