Anissa Naouai is a news anchor and political correspondent for RT.
Her reports have taken her to over 65 cities across the globe, from Beijing to Budapest. Anissa goes wherever the action takes her in order to keep RT’s viewers informed with live, up-to-the-minute coverage.
In 2010, Anissa traveled to the heart of the wildfires raging across Russia: there she joined the airborne effort to bring the situation under control onboard a water bomber plane. Her unique vantage point gave the world a chance to see for itself the true scale of the devastation ripping through peoples’ lives.
She is one of the few foreigners in the Russian president’s press pool, with her work taking her to major summits and forums around the world each year including: APEC, G8, G20, BRIC, and UN conferences.
In 2009, Anissa spent three weeks traveling across Brazil revealing the ins and outs of slum life in the favellas of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Recife.
She has covered elections in many countries, including France, Turkey, Ukraine and Russia. According to Anissa, one of her most exciting experiences was witnessing the historic vote during the 2008 US presidential election from Washington DC.
In 2006-2007 Anissa followed the radioactive trail in London, Moscow and Hamburg after the murder of Aleksandr Litvinenko and was one of the first journalists to arrive at the scene of Anna Politovskaya’s murder.
She has interviewed many influential political figures including Henry Kissinger, former US presidential candidate Pat Buchanan, former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, Lebanese Parliament Majority Leader Saad Hariri and Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev.
Born and raised in New York City, Anissa has lived in Russia since 2001. She moved to the Russian capital to complete a masters degree at the Studio School of the Moscow Art Theatre.
She speaks fluent Russian and some French.
