Katerina Azarova is a news reporter for RT.

Since joining the channel at its launch, Katerina has worked in the newsroom as a broadcast journalist. In the autumn of 2006, she began doing correspondent work and joined the reporters’ team full-time in November that same year.

With 73 cities on her itinerary so far, Katerina is always looking forward to chasing stories across the globe. Be it Russian businessmen on trial in Cambodia, or ways of battling the global financial crisis in California, Katerina is there to provide RT viewers with up-to-the-minute coverage.

She was on air in November 2007 when Georgian police dispersed an opposition rally with tear gas and rubber bullets, breaking the first before anyone else. Katerina and her crew suffered gas poisoning, but continued to provide live updates from the chaos in the center of the Georgian capital, Tbilisi.

Katerina spent a number of weeks in Thailand following the arrest of Russian businessman Viktor Bout, accused of being today's most notorious international arms dealer.

She also spent a month in the Russian Republic of Chechnya, providing viewers with an insight to the war-torn republic's road to recovery.

As a member of the presidential press pool, Katerina travels extensively with the Russian President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and reports from major international gatherings such as the APEC summit.

In the run-up to the US Presidential Election of 2008, she spent 2 months filming stories on both the East and West Coasts, rounding it up with live coverage of Election Night from the John McCain Headquarters in Arizona.

Katerina studied in the UK for six years. After completing her A Levels and degree, she returned to Russia with a BA in English from the University of London.

Most of her spare time is devoted to reading, but she also loves cooking, horse-riding, art cinema and writing poetry.

Katerina speaks fluent English, passable French and is currently studying Italian.
