­Lori Harfenist is an on-the-street reporter for RT in New York City.

A video journalist for over 7 years, Lori covers news with a frank, honest perspective that is often not found in the mainstream media — but is much-appreciated and sought after by the mainstream audience.

In 2000, she started the show, “The Resident,” in the 10 to 10:30PM Monday night slot on NYC’s public access channel, MNN. It quickly became a cult favorite with its unique blend of on-the-street and commentary content. Concurrently, she was building an online base of 3-5 minute packages from the show. When online video portals came about in 2005, she had hours and hours of web content ready to upload, so “The Resident” quickly stood apart from the pack.

As a result, she was one of You Tube’s original 75 content partners and subsequently has garnered over 30 million online views.

With its high level of visibility online and on local NYC TV, “The Resident” caught the eye of executives at RT, and a partnership was born. Lori began creating weekly on-the-street packages for the network in 2008, netting authentic, raw opinions on the hottest news stories from passersby in Times Square. Combined with her quick wit, her natural ability to engage with strangers creates authentic dialogue that provokes interesting and oftentimes surprising opinions from people around the world.

Lori continues to produce the show, The Resident, where she does studio commentary, one-on-one interviews, and on the street pieces. She graduated cum laude from Pace University in NYC and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband and dog. Hanging out with them is her favorite hobby.
