Matt Trezza is a studio anchor and correspondent at RT.
Since joining RT in 2009, Matt has anchored and reported many of the major stories shaping the news. He presented RT’s special coverage of the signing of the new START Treaty between the United States and Russia, the state funeral of Polish President Lech Kaczynski, the riots in Kyrgyzstan that ousted the country’s president, and the terrorist attack on Domodedovo Airport. In the field, Matt gave up-to-the-minute details on breaking stories including the Nevsky Express train bombing and the Moscow Metro terror attacks. His reporting has taken him from Azerbaijan, covering a groundbreaking meeting of the Russian and Georgian Church leaders, to France, investigating the problem of domestic slavery.
Born and raised in New York, Matt earned a BA in International Relations, with a concentration in American Politics, from Johns Hopkins University. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Columbia University.
Previously, Matt was a correspondent at the NBC affiliate in Toledo, Ohio, reporting on breaking news, the economy, and politics – extensively covering the 2008 Presidential Campaign visits. Prior to that, he was an anchor and correspondent at the ABC affiliate in Wyoming – deep in America’s Rocky Mountain West – reporting on local politics, news and human interest stories, where he was honored by the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters for feature news reporting.
Before embarking on a career in journalism, Matt worked on two political campaigns, including Mike Bloomberg’s New York mayoral campaign, and held internships at CBS News, C-SPAN and the United States Congress.
In his free time, Matt enjoys writing, athletics, photography and travel. His work has appeared in Westchester Magazine, and his journeys have taken him throughout the United States and parts of Canada, Western Europe, the Balkans, Russia, Turkey and Japan.
