Russian cuisine: Buckwheat Porridge with Mushrooms

Overview

There's hardly anything just as good for you as traditional Russian buckwheat porridge!

Ingredients

  • Salt
  • 2 onions
  • 1 pound field mushrooms
  • 1 cup buckwheat (a tip: it’s often sold in Indian food shops)
  • 3 cups water

Cooking

Boil the water, salt it and put the buckwheat cereal into it. Decrease the fire to a very slow one, cover the pot with a lid and cook till all the water is gone.

Slice onions into half-circles, fry them on a slow fire till soft, then add sliced mushrooms and cook together till the mushrooms are soft and brown. Mix with the ready buckwheat.
