Russian cuisine: Pot Soup

Overview

The best recipe is the one you invent yourself. Here's a good base for successful invention!

Ingredients

  • Veggies and spices of your choosing
  • 4 small clay cooking pots or 1 big pot, if you have one
  • Meat of any kind

Cooking

This is not an exact recipe, but an idea for a marvelous soup that’s easily done and fast eaten, since it tastes like heaven.

Just add some olive or veggie oil to the pot, then put the meat, cut into small pieces, on to the bottom and put the pot into the hot oven for 1 hour. After that add your selection of chopped veggies and herbs and pour extremely hot water over it. Put the lid on the pot and place in the oven for at least 30 more minutes.

TIP:

This is the traditional cooking method used over the centuries by Russian peasants. You can also add a bit of pearl barley or buckweet to the the mix, but remember they triple in size when cooked.
