Aleksandr Pushkin

­Aleksandr Pushkin is considered Russia's greatest poet and the founder of modern Russian literature.

Pushkin was the first to use everyday speech in his poetry, fusing Old Slavonic with vernacular Russian. This blend gave his works their rich, melodic quality.
