Winehouse-Doherty blood painting sells for $56,000

A painting by Amy Winehouse created with fellow-musician Pete Doherty has gone under the hammer for $56.000. The work titled Ladylike features a female face and is made with Amy’s blood.

The co-creation between the two singers and friends was sold along with other artwork by Pete Doherty – created using his blood – as well as his guitars, private diaries and other personal belongings. The auction that sold a total of 17 items followed a personal exhibition of Doherty’s art in London.

The singer says he hadn’t been intending to sell the exhibits, but huge interest from the fans prompted otherwise.

"People really wanted to be able to purchase them. So we thought we'd do an auction and make it open to the public rather than price it," the spokesperson from the gallery hosting the display told NME music news website.

Ladylike, which was not owned by Doherty, was expected to fetch between $80,000 and $130,000.
