The 63rd Berlinale International Film Festival has ended with the triumph of Romanian social drama ‘Child’s Pose.’ Russia’s entry, ‘A Long and Happy Life’ by Boris Khlebnikov, failed to earn the jury’s praise.
While the world awaits the Academy Awards for 2012’s films, Berlinale has already named the best upcoming films, awarding productions that have yet to be released for public viewing.
The Silver Bear for Best Director went to American director David Gordon Green for ‘Prince Avalanche.’ Dissident Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi won Best Screenplay prize for his latest work, ‘Closed Curtain.’
Nazif Mujic scooped the Best Actor prize for ‘An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker,’ and the picture also scooped the Jury Grand Prix. Paulina Garcia received the Best Actress award for ‘Gloria.’
Russian drama ‘A Long and Happy Life,’ which was in the running for the Golden Bear statue, failed to win any prizes.
Russian films traditionally participate in the prestigious film marathon. In 2010, two Russian actors and a director of photography took home Silver Bears from Berlin.
