Chinese authorities have altered the course of events in the record-breaking Bond film Skyfall to adjust the film in accordance with state ideology.

The scene staged in the Chinese city of Shanghai and featuring a Chinese character being killed was reportedly cut in entirety. In the scene a French killer shoots a security guard after entering a skyscraper, the Hollywood reporter says.

The dialogue has also undergone several “adjustments”. The meaning of words featured in the scene where Bond talks to a bar hostess in a Macau casino were also altered.

The original conversation between Bond and the hostess, has the protagonist mentioning that the woman became a prostitute at a young age. References to politics have also been altered to make the film “suitable” for screening in China in the eyes of the Chinese authorities.

Censorship and re-editing of imported films is quite a common phenomenon in China. Scenes in such films as Men in Black 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and several other have been cut and altered for being offensive, the Guardian reports.

The Chinese government frequently delays the release of Western made films in the country as part of an effort to support homemade films by sparing them competition with big Hollywood blockbusters. Skyfall was due to go on hire in China in November 2012, however the release was rescheduled for 2013.

The latest Bond movie has already grossed $1.03 billion internationally.

this is a film that glorifies the mi6. what part of that do you not understand. China is being very tolerant, just by even allowing a censored version into its country. what we need to see is a movie that depicts the mi6 for the terorists that they really are. on the economic side, the west regularly rakes in millions from Chinese cinemas. aside from iron monkey, and crouching tiger, no Chinese film is given the opportunity to make that kind of money. the problem with capitalism is that nothing is ever enough. in a fair world, the west should not be able to import any of its films unless it can guarantee the same amount of profits for Chinese film companies. on top of all that, i dont find british, or hollywood films to be entertaining at all. even if you paid me $10, i still would not watch it. it's bad enough that these films are brain washing you, but then you got to pay to get brain washed? you got to be joking me.

They're doing the same thing here, JJ.  We're just a trashy culture that promotes the sex trade and drugs to keep a caste of people down.  China has a different way.  There are security agencies in the US going around now who are destroying peoples' brains if they do not write in accordance with our ideology. They've been destroying writers since the 1950s.  They used to have blacklists.  Now they have brain damage. The trouble is that our ideology is difficult to know because of all the liberal teachers we're polluted with.  When are we going to get a book with our propaganda in it, simply stated that can be copied and transferred into our work?  Can the army send me one?  I write because I enjoy it, and it helps me with my other problems.  I write to entertain minus one book, and it will be my only book that was trying to make a statement, and the book was a personal statement anyway.  I was sick of their illogical arguments.
