A young Russian man has attempted to sneak into Ukraine on an inflatable mattress.
Ukrainian border guards detained the 20 year-old as he tried to cross the Kerch Strait in the Black Sea.
He was captured on the sandy Tuzla Island in the middle of the waterway.
According to Interfax, the unlucky migrant was planning on getting to the Kerch Peninsula which is in the eastern part of the Crimea in Ukraine. Having reached that point the adventurer intended to head for the city of Odessa “in search for better living conditions.”
The width of the Kerch Strait varies between 4.5 kilometers and 16 kilometers.
The young man had no documents with him and is reportedly a resident of Vologda region.
