Whitney Houston's family have deployed armed security guards at the late star's grave to defend it from possible grave robbers.
The singer was reportedly buried in $500,000 worth of jewelry and clothing in a gold-lined casket. Rumors about the riches buried alongside Whitney’s body spread after The National Enquirer published a photo of the pop queen wearing gold and diamonds in an open casket on Wednesday. Consequently, Houston’s family began to fear looting raids.
How long the late star’s grave at Fairview Cemetery in Newark, New Jersey will be guarded has not been disclosed. So far, armed guards have been dispersing hundreds of people daily, with fans arriving in organized groups to visit Houston’s grave and pay their tributes.
The pop star was found dead in her hotel suite in Beverly Hills on February 12 and buried in New Jersey on February 18. The cause of Houston’s death has yet to be established, pending toxicology reports.
