Barbie: Age before beauty?

‘She’s not a girl, not yet an old woman.’ Barbie has recently turned 50 and is coming to Russia to celebrate her golden jubilee.
A glamorous exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the iconic American doll is to open at the Cara&Co concept store on May 28 at Moscow’s Vinzavod Contemporary Art Center.
Some fifty fashion designers were commissioned to create such must-have accessories as bags, hats and shoes for the classic doll wearing a little black dress.
The ‘patriarch of Russian fashion’ Vyacheslav Zaitsev and the flamboyant Andrey Bartenev are among the designers who’ve taken part in the project entitled ‘Barbie and her accessories’.
The exhibition has already toured the world extensively before finally being scheduled to reach the Russian capital. Its next stops en route will be Germany, Belgium and Japan.
