An exhibition of photographs featuring Nobel-prize winning Russian poet Joseph Brodsky, who died of a heart attack in 1996, opens in Milan during its Fashion Week.

The pictures were taken by one of the world’s most distinguished photographers, Russian artist Sergey Bermenyev, who has snapped photos of Kofi Annan, Luciano Pavarotti, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Mikhail Baryshnikov and many other A-list celebrities.

Bermenyev met Brodsky in New York where the poet moved to in the early 1970s. His favorite city, though, was Venice – every nook and cranny of which Brodsky explored. It was where Bermenyev’s photo session took place.
