Glitz and glamour on the French Riviera; Cannes, the world’s most prestigious film festival, will kick off its high-life party program with a “Russian Ball” for the first time in its 64-year history.
The red-carpet event promises to be entertaining, yet relaxing and inspiring, given the fact that guests will have the chance to watch a ballet from Russia’s landmark Bolshoi Theatre, listen to French opera star Emma Shapplin and finally go on a voyage on a posh yacht.
The Russian Ball will be hosted at the legendary Carlton hotel, which in fact was built with financial support from the son of Russian Emperor Alexander II, Vladimir.
Since 1912, the hotel has served as a Mecca of prestige, comfort and style, and takes care of the cream of society during the Cannes Film Festival.
Aside from “food for thought”, film lovers at the Russian Ball will be offered some culinary masterpieces, created according to recipes from the Imperial Russian cuisine.
When gourmet guests will have enough of “bread and circuses”, they will be invited to take their next journey – on a yacht – in the company of gypsy singers and dancers…
