Promising Russian musicians have followed in the footsteps of the Irish rockers “U2”, who impressed the public in 2007 by choosing to perform live on the red carpet of the Festival’s Palace at Cannes.

But these young Russian musicians haven’t yet had the chance to perform for Hollywood stars and A-list celebrities at the world’s most prestigious film festival.

In fact, their gig is part of the programme for the "Young Russian Culture " festival highlighting young Russian talent in the South of France.

Apart from the mixed musical program, there’s something else on the festival’s menu that meets the eye. Budding artists from St Petersburg are expected to unveil works created during their stay at Cannes for citizens of the beach town to appreciate wannabe Russian painters.

The event will be followed by the large-scale annual festival of Russian culture that takes place on the French Riviera each August.
