Car rams into an art exhibition of bread sculptures

An exhibition of bread sculptures from artist Andrey Kuzkin at the Stella Art Foundation gallery was nearly destroyed by a car running into the building.
The incident took place in Moscow on April 12, when a car rammed the gallery’s show-window, seriously damaging one of the three-meter tall sculptures, and then ran into another wall, reports Artchronicle. After the crash, smoke filled the premises and water pored from the broken pipes, which could easily have destroyed the vulnerable bread sculptures.
At the very moment of the crash, Kuzkin was reportedly hanging from the ceiling in a hammock, which was part of the show titled “Levitation Characters.” He remained calm and did not pay much attention to the dramatic events below. Soon after the accident police officers asked spectators to leave the gallery, and also helped the artist get down from the ceiling.
No one was injured in the crash except some of the grain sculptures. Preliminary data suggests that the incident happened because the driver mixed up the throttle and brake pedals.
Andrey Kuzkin’s exhibition at Stella Art Foundation will still be running through May 30.
