Andy Warhol was not an artist. He was one of the sick American humans who became involved in the new age nonsense of US greatness. Basically, one of the insane drug addicts who had no boundaries. His technicians who learned how to commercialize graphic art into an icon/imagery made stuff for him, that was sold to be the new brand of "art." All of the so-called American artists who LIVED and enjoyed the lifestyle of the rich and famous, were nothing more than product sales men/women and the brand sold was a new form of faux art. Britney Spears comes to mind. Study the Monarch Slave syndrome in Robin de Ruiter's book --- this is "American art," as well as every one of the European NEW AGE "artists" and their "patrons." Rothko, Gorky, Pollock, et al., were all purposely done away with ("suicides," but of course). And the Rockefeller family who decided to be "ruthless empire builders" (see IDA TARBELL), also chose the "art" which America became famous for (Warhol, et al.). Corrupt thinking recycles into perversion, eventually. While America chose HOLLYWOOD as the role model to manufacture a worldwide image of "art" .... and allowed all the new made multi-millionaires to be the chosen as the more special humans who could make better choices because the obvious -- "rich" know art? Why. Why do the Sachs of the human species become special in knowing art, when not one day in this guy's life has he ever created a work of genius from the unseen realm into the seen ... to uplift the spirit of humanity. Art is not art when it is simply a commodity for the so-called "rich" to feel as though they have somehow been creative. Art is only art when the spirit of the creator is greater than the work itself. The work is simply the "bi-product." It is what happens between the participant in the viewing and the artist in the creation, art. It cannot be defined, in other words. Art is the Tao and that which can be spoken is not the Tao. The moment the viewer connects with the moment in time (never beginning and never ending) that the artist created the art, this is when the spiritual bond of creative genius becomes a cosmic shared experience. Looking at stuff that is a commercial venture for rich perverts is not a cosmic experience. Just ask Pink Floyd about art, they understand that it is cosmic and not perverted as a human commodity to become a way in which "rich" get to find their creative genius. Before enlightenment - chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment - chop wood, carry water. When Gunter Sachs works for years in his own studio and then brings his soul to the world for all to see who he is at the center of his being, then he can be proud to think he is a human being rather than a human just doing until his organic form recycles itself into the unknown. RICH is creating art whether rich is .... or, is not.
