Washington’s Kennedy Center presents its next Focus on Russia festival. Russia's world-renowned Mariinsky Ballet returns to open the program with Konstantin Sergeyev's version of the fairy tale ballet “Sleeping Beauty”.

As part of the Center’s Focus on Russia, the best samples of Russian opera, ballet and musical art will be seen in Washington. The Mariinsky Ballet pays their eighth visit in a ten-year partnership with the Kennedy Center. Along with the St Petersburg-based ballet stars, the program will also feature Mariinsky opera performances and ballet from the Moscow-based Bolshoi Theater.

Grammy-winning pianist Evgeny Kissin will present “Concerto No. 2” by Frederic Chopin, along with other Russian musicians.

Theater-goers get a chance to see the Mariinsky’s “Sleeping beauty”, which recently enjoyed great success in London, from February 9 till February 14.

The Washington tour of the Bolshoi Theater will pass through the Kennedy Center from February 16 till February 21. The capital-based company returns to the Kennedy Center with a powerhouse production of former artistic director Yury Grigorovich's “Spartacus”, one of the key performances of the theater ever since its premiere in 1968.

Russian spirit is going to settle in Washington in February: even the bar menu of The Kennedy Center will be changed to offer the guests traditional Russian dishes and drinks, including caviar and vodka.
