Damien Hirst, "The Dead", foil, print on paper, 72x51, (2009)
Moscow will finally see the works by one of the world’s most expensive contemporary artists, Damien Hirst, as his exhibition opens on Wednesday at the Triumph gallery in Moscow.
His provocative, some call disgusting, artworks are well known in the world as is the artist’s name. But this time there will be no canned bodies of dead animals or shocking, cynically rethought Christian symbols.
Moscow’s Triumph gallery will display Damien Hirst's project "The Dead" – a series of 30 works-prints on paper. Each one features a skull in two colors (for example, brown with gold, or red with green, or silver with gold). Here the artist used foil, and the surface of the works is pleasantly textured.
Each work was printed in 15 copies, so if you’re a collector and are ready to loosen up your pockets for a Hirst artwork – be ready to pay around 14,500 dollars for a genuine print signed by the living-legend artist.
'In Russias' with love - photos of a diverse peopleAn album of possibly the most comprehensive and eclectic collection of pictures of Russia has just been published. Its author is British photographer James Hill, who first came to Moscow in the early 1990s. |
