Albert Kuvezin, a music producer, joined RT to comment on the possibilities of mixing throat singing with other music styles.
Russia Today: You are a producer, a leader of a local band and a kind of local musical impresario, in particular with throat singing. How did you come to throat singing?
Albert Kuvezin: I came to throat singing quite late. I have been a musician in a rock band, we have been playing many different stupid Western things, rock’n’roll, rock, punk, heavy metal, so many different styles. But then little by little I began getting interested in traditional music, especially singing. And I met a lot of people from remote places, from far countryside, and they taught me different styles of singing, different tunes, melodies. I wanted to create something new.
RT: What is it you are playing?
A.K.: Actually we play music of different styles, and we do explore the music of the world. For example, I’m going to perform a traditional Scottish song now.
