One of the world’s most unconventional photographers, American artist Spencer Tunick is coming to the Russian capital for a revealing photo shoot.
Tunick’s made a name for himself as an artist who gathers large groups of people in public places and photographs them in their birthday suits.
He’s been breaking stereotypes, conventions and taboos in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and America to the point where, since 1992, Tunick’s photographed over 100 thousand people naked.
The 42-tear-old American usually works with volunteers who receive a limited edition photo as a reward for their contribution.
But it’s not merely about taking off clothes in front of the camera. The challenge is to explore and capture the boundaries of freedom and sensuality, especially in countries where people are less liberated than in the West.
In 2007 Tunick brought together and undressed over 18,000 people in one of the world's biggest squares, the Zocalo, in Mexico City.
His previous personal record was a group photo of some 7, 000 people in Barcelona.
This time in Moscow, though, Tunick will only get a bunch of people naked instead of thousands.
He’ll pick just 5 women and 5 men for a photo-shoot entitled “Moscow Individuals”, which will be revealed at the Moscow Biennale of contemporary art in September.
