Prepare to discover the unknown mysteries, spectacular shows, art performances and exclusive parties in the capital's most respectable art galleries and museums... at night!
Over a hundred art venues are holding what has become an annual event in Russia since 2007. “Night in the Museum” will be held this weekend in Moscow, and here are some hints on where to go on this unusual day. The fourth museum night will start at 19:00 on Saturday.
The geography of the "Night" will cover almost all city districts. Among others, the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow's Archeological, the Historical Museum, Gulag History Museum, the State Shchusev Museum of Architecture, and the Winzavod and Garage contemporary art centers are participating. The list is long.
"It is the fourth time the doors of the Moscow museums and galleries will be open on a May night… The best art can be seen in an unusual time and in unusual circumstances," said the mayoralty.
This year the Tretyakov Gallery in the Central House of Artists is getting ready to entertain visitors with the opening the "Sanatorium of Arts: Branch of ARThopedics and Aesthetic Traumatology." The Fleet History Museum will meet visitors with a special Russian naval dish, fleet macaroni, and take them on a tour on a submarine. Right next to the Central House of Artists, the Museon Park will be the site for a light show close to midnight, and from 18:00 to 21:00 for master classes on painting, sculpture and smith craft.

The Garage Center for Contemporary Culture is charging a 200 ruble fee for entrance to all of their exhibitions. “Mark Rotko: To the Unknown World,” “Russian Utopias, Part 2: the Future from Here,” and “Futurology” will stay open until 04:00. And the cafe will hold a party with DJs.
Winzavod, apart from gallery exhibitions, has prepared a performance of “Red Branch” by director Cyril Serebrennikov's students, as well as one of drummers and the Zventa Sventana band.
Moscow’s Cosmonautics Museum offers a chance to hear mysterious space music at the “Meteor Shower over Russia” festival and to meet space pilots.
Moscow’s Izmailovo museum estate invites visitors to listen to a film opera in the open air and to learn how to felt wool.
Olga Chernikova's gallery promises to give a few lessons on preparing traditional curing tinctures, offer herbal teas and tell the history of Russian valenki.
The Timiryazev biological museum offers an excursion "Under the Tropical Rain" through a greenhouse.
This year’s one of the best known Russian fine arts museums – the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts – will not be taking part in the “Night in the Museum,” as at the moment the museum is hosting an exhibition of Pablo Picasso. According to the terms of the contract with the Parisian Picasso Museum, the Pushkin Museum cannot participate in such events for the safety of the precious artworks.
Three free bus routes will be launched on Saturday night to make it easier for the people to see as much as possible around the city. The first will lie on the inner side of the Garden ring. The second starts at Park Kultury metro station and will go through Museum Panorama “Borodino Battle,” the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the Museum of Defense of Moscow and the Darwin Museum. The third route will connect the city’s manors: Tsaritsino, Kolomna, Lyublino, Kuzminki and Kuskovo.
