Not only for adults

A melting pot of contemporary literature, cinema, theatre and music has been brought together in one place in Moscow. An international book festival is taking place in the Russian capital on June 11.
One of the highlights of the art festival is a room with swearwords on the walls reflecting the street life and buzz of any modern city of the world. Organizers have promised they won’t let teenagers come into the room for adults only. There will be a warning at the entrance to the room saying that young visitors cannot get in there.
Art lovers of a tender age are invited to a varied music program instead.
Up-and-coming British, Spanish, German, and French music bands will play gigs at the House of Artists over the weekend while writers, scientists, philosophers, politicians and poets will try to involve the public in various discussions and lectures.
The main theme of this year’s festival is “The Future”, which means keen audiences will be plunged into a world of sci-fi and fantasy.
According to the program director of the festival, Boris Kupriyanov, the culture of Eastern Europe will be in the limelight this time around.
“Eastern Europe features a unified culture space, while in Russia it’s all torn away and isolated. In this sense, Europe can teach us a lot,” Kupriyanov said.
Along with cutting-edge writers from Romania, Hungary, Belarus, and Ukraine – and former Soviet republics Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania – Austria, France, and Italy have also sent their best writing talent.
The festival will run till June 14.
