A small factory in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod province has beaten thousand of others from all over the globe to make a special Christmas decoration featuring America’s top dog, for VIP clients only.

Blowing manufactory in Central Russia enters world’s market.
It’s producing Christmas tree decorations adorned with the beaming face of President Obama.

“We’ve received this order from a souvenir company from Washington”, says the factory’s deputy head Elena Tersinskikh, “they have chosen us because all our decoration is hand-made”.

The Russian company beat over 900 producers from 40 countries whose products were all on show at the International Exhibition of Christmas Decorations in Frankfurt this January.

No “Made in China” President

The background of the glass bauble will be sky blue. Artists will use special brushes and glass colours to paint against this background a snapshot of Obama's Inauguration – the American Congress building, flags, people and the President himself. On the reverse side of the bauble they will write “America's 44th president”.

Elena Tersinskikh says her clients had first appraoched Chinese craftsmen, but changed their minds as they feared it would be of a lower quality.

Happy Obama

Artist Nina Babanina says it is the most important assignment of her life.
She looked through hundreds of Obama’s pictures. “Our clients wanted Obama to look happy! The essential part was to reproduce his optimism and the positive energy he radiates”, she said.

The first 100 pieces are ready: it took 4 months to make them.
Customers say they want to offer the New Year gift to America’s top officials, including the man whose very face smiles out from them.
