Zurab Tsereteli, the author of some of Russia’s most debatable sculptures recognized by their massive size, has revealed his inspiration – Pablo Picasso.

One of Russia’s most prolific artists, Tsereteli has opened an exhibition of sculptures, paintings and drawings at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

Over a hundred works feature Paris, the city that both inspired him to create the pieces and played a key role in Tsereteli’s life, mainly thanks to the people he met there in the 1960s, namely Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is Picasso’s portrait in sculpture created by the 75-year-old Tsereteli in his Parisian workshop.

His works are on display until July 26.
