Portable music hall

Baghdad-born British architect Zaha Hadid has created a music hall in Manchester designed uniquely for solo performances of Johan Sebastian Bach.
Praised for her unconventional approach to contemporary design and architecture, Hadid’s hall is zigzagged with a colossal white ribbon made from a fabric composed of micro-membranes that help improve acoustics in the hall.
In 2004 Hadid became the first-ever woman-architect to receive the highly prestigious Pritzker Prize. One of the benefits of her construction of the Manchester music hall is that it’s transportable, and has been specially created for the International Festival at the Manchester Art Gallery.
One of the first artists to perform in the one-off hall which can house up to 200 people is Russian violinist Alina Ibragimova, who is taking part at the Manchester festival.
