Whitney Houston looks to Russia!

American star Whitney Houston has been clearly "saving all her love” for her Russian fans. Otherwise she wouldn’t have chosen Russia as the first stop on her world tour to promote her latest album “I Look to You”.

US singer and actress Whitney Houston has passed away at the age of 48 in Los Angeles. The cause of her death is as yet unclear.

The singer was found in a hotel room in Beverly Hills, police spokesman Mark Rosen told reporters. “At 3:55 pm Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.”

Houston’s death comes on the eve of one of the music world’s biggest events, the Grammys, where she received six awards during her career. Celebrated as one of the greatest female singers of all time, she also won two Emmys, 30 Billboard and 22 American Music awards.

The bittersweet irony, as noted by some of the gala’s guests, was that Whitney was actually introduced to the world by mentor Clive Davis at his pre-Grammy party more than two decades ago – and many felt that it was almost appropriate that most of the music industry gathered to say goodbye to the legendary singer at the same place they first heard her mesmerizing voice.

Houston was actually supposed to perform at the gala, hosted annually by her mentor, music executive Clive Davis. It was, according to Davis, “her favorite night of the year” – and she was even considering performing at the event.

The decision to carry on with the party, at the very same hotel where Ms Houston was pronounced dead just hours before, did not come easy to Davis – but he said his protégé “loved music and she loved this night that celebrates music”. The mood, however, was somber, with many of the guests looking shocked or dazed. Addressing the guests, Davis said he was “personally devastated” – but “Whitney would have wanted the music to go on and her family asked that we carry on”.

A part of tonight’s Grammy awards ceremony will also be dedicated to the music legend.

In recent years the diva had struggled with drug abuse which affected her brilliant voice and superstar image. “The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy,” Houston said in a 2002 interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer.

She was one of the world’s best-selling artists with more than 170 million albums and singles sold across the world. Her musical work influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey.

Whitney Houston started her acting career in The Bodyguard (1992). Whitney’s lead single from its original soundtrack, “I Will Always Love You,” became the best-selling single by a female artist in music history. She also starred in Waiting to Exhale (1995) and The Preacher's Wife (1996).

She was born in 1963 in a middle-income neighborhood in Newark, New Jersey, into the family of John Russell Houston, Jr. an entertainment executive and Cissy Houston, an accomplished gospel singer. She found inspiration in the soul and gospel musical traditions of her family. She was the cousin of Dionne Warwick and god-daughter of Aretha Franklin.

Resurrection brought to life…With a feminine touch

“Resurrection: Infatuation Is Over, Love Remains.” What sounds like a mantra repeated non-stop to forget old relationships is in fact the title of a musical brought together in Japan, with all the roles in the show exclusively played by women.

What a compassionless human being you are... and I use that term very loosely. I guess your American business associate is black and can speak for BLACK AMERICA as a whole. He is wrong and you are wrong. There are very few black success stories in this country as it is and you go and degrade one of the few black stars this world has. You obviously have no idea what it's like to be black in America and your "business associate" has truly led you down the wrong path. You both lack even basic common sense. What's even more compelling is that you can speak so callously about someone who has died... regardless of the reason. We are all connected through life and if you don't understand that, soon enough it will be your turn to entertain Death. You WILL receive all that you have put out there and may a higher power have mercy on your soul. You are a vile and insignificant excuse for a human being.

One reaction to drug addicted out of control WH's death was expected.   The US media began hyping her death for all they could to get the naive American public tuned in. And, of course, the folks promoting the Grammy Musical Award show tonight are working themselves into a lather about WH's death to raise their viewership.

Called a former American business associate of mine to find out what all the hysteria was about.  He had a very succinct response: " The American Blacks demand that their "heros" be honored by whites, even if most of them are drugged up entertainers and athletes.   Understandable under American circumstances.

So it seems that the first purpose for the WH hype in the media is to let the Black Americans know that the demise of their "hero" are supported by the white media (aka white guilt); and, the second purpose is to hype up the viewership.

The US media never lets an "hot story" go to waste.  They will milk it for all they can.

Expect WH memorials to continue through next week, and then the US media will find something else to focus on - Iran for example.

please excuse the vagueness of my previous post. my intention was to highlight the fact that there are many exceptionally talented singers & musicians who have not went down the slippery slope of alcohol & druug excess. ...those who do end up 'excessing' theirselves need compassion & help, rather than condescending reprimands.
