Moscow is to offer its alternative to America’s garage-sale, the flea markets of Paris or London and the Friday sales of handmade stuff in Israel: ‘Sunday Up-Market’ is coming to the capital’s Winzavod Art Centre

Bridging the gap from exhibitions’ usual ‘look-don’t-touch’ attitude, Sunday Up-Market puts rare and unusual creations directly in the hands of visitors.

In what is the first project of its kind in Moscow, there aren’t many places in the city where you can find exclusive clothes, vintage objets, charming one-off souvenirs, hand-made accessories or just pretty trifles waiting for a new home.

The Winzavod Art Centre is also giving the possibility to combine this unusual weekend shopping with visits to several modern art exhibitions, in the hope that 'Sunday Up-Market' could become a truly urban-cultural-entertaining event.

The project was born four months ago in one of Moscow’s underground showrooms. For one day in a month, creative craftspeople gathered there to share their creations with others.

The number of participants grew and eventually caught the eye – and purse – of consumers. Soon came the need to expand so the organizers brought it to Winzavod.

The next 'Sunday Up-Market' opens on March 28, with sales lasting through the weekend.
