Fourteen stories by Kurt Vonnegut, which have never been published before, will finally see the light. A book entitled “Look at the Birdie” will be published by Delacorte Press in November 2009, the AP reports.
The publishing house also plans to reissue 15 books by the writer, including Slaughterhouse-Five and The Sirens of Titan, one more edition of unpublished works, and also a collection of Vonnegut’s letters.
Issuing those works previously unpublished during the writers lifetime began in 2008 with the collection “Armageddon in Retrospect”. The introduction to the book was written by the writer’s son, doctor and writer Mark Vonnegut. The book includes essays dedicated to themes of war and peace.
Kurt Vonnegut (1922 – 2007) is one of the best-known American novelists of the 20th century. He is the author of 14 novels including Breakfast of Champions (1973), Cat's Cradle (1963), Slaughterhouse-Five (1969) and others. Many of his books remain bestsellers to this day. He previously worked in satire, black comedy and science fiction.
Kurt Vonnegut was a socialist, trusting in humanistic ideals, and his books were widely published in the Soviet Union with Rita Right-Kovaleva’s translation. In 1974, Vonnegut visited Moscow and in 1977 met readers in Leningrad.
Kurt Vonnegut died on April 12th, 2007 in New York He was 84 years old.
