Hard rocker and politically active performer Andrew W.K. is not a perfect match for the role of US culture ambassador to Bahrain, the US Department of State has decided.
The controversial cultural exchange mission in the Middle East involving the Party Hard hit performer has been called off even before it got started.
The news of the self-proclaimed party king’s mission as US’s new culture ambassador to the Middle East has been called “a mistake” and “not appropriate use of US government funds” by the State Department, The Guardian reports.
The rock singer-songwriter expressed his disappointment with the cancellation of his mission on his Twitter account.
"I'm just blown away. After a year of planning, the US State Dept just cancelled my Middle East trip because I'm too party."
Last week’s reports that the hard rock star has been appointed the US culture ambassador to the Middle East prompted skepticism among Middle East human rights watchers.
The man behind such hits as Party Til You Puke and Party Hard Andrew W.K. wrote he was “humbled by the chance to represent the United States of America and show the good people of Bahrain the power of positive partying” on his website.
The singer was due to promote the US in the conservative Muslim Kingdom of Bahrain and "share his music and partying with the people there".
