Spider-Man #1 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1990)

Todd McFarlane's original cover for “The Amazing Spider-Man” No. 328, depicting Spider-Man gut-punching the Hulk, has fetched a record $657,250 at an auction.

The work from the versatile Canadian artist, best known for his comic book fantasy series Spawn, was part of the collection of original art owned by a New York-based comic and memorabilia shop owner.

Before he left to develop his own superhero character, Spawn, and shape Image Comics with fellow artists, McFarlane created a number of trademark titles for Marvel Comics.

Apart from the signature sold at Heritage Auctions, McFarlane's cover for Spider-Man No. 1 also went under the hammer for $358,500.

MikeNZ... idiotic.  As though only Americans spend ludicrous amounts of money on things you find not worthy of the price tag.  Hope you're not kiwi.
