­DJ Tiesto joins Russian VKontakte social network

International celebrities are eyeing Russian social networks and launching fan pages. Dutch DJ Tijs Verwest, better known as DJ Tiesto has joined Russia’s largest social network VKontakte (In Contact).

Information about the disc jockey getting a page on VKontakte website was published on his official Facebook page.

The famous DJ has already uploaded photographs and music to the page, which has so far attracted almost 7,000 followers.

The page has a community status and is in English.

In August 2012 Forbes magazine named Tiesto the highest-paid DJ in the world. According to the edition the Dutchman earned US$22 million in just one year.

The DJ’s Facebook page is still much more popular. Since the DJ joined Facebook in 2008 over 12.8 million people have subscribed to his page.

Earlier this month another popular music band, MGMT, also joined VKontakte. Their page is somewhat less popular, with around 2,800 followers.
