My thoughts on this is one's gender originates from the mind. The mind is the essence of who we are. The body which mind is caged within is superfluous.
If this individual was female only in mind, then we could sensibly disclude them from a competition which is after all judging the body of the participating women. However this individual has appropriately & wholly transformed their body. She looks great & is indistinguishable from any "natural-born" woman. I consider such an individual to be female.
There fore if this person knew they were female, and followed through to properly adjust their body to match their known gender identity, it is just cruel to exclude them from the female set.
Technolo gy is only going to make it easier & easier to casually slip back & forth between gender states, making gender a personal decision, not something immutable & lifelong. Better get used to it :)
Let me tel to those who are having problems with it. Dont worry. Do they come into your live? Do they harm you? Do they want something from you? Do they have any intrest in you? If not, Why are you talking so stupid about those ppl.You have totaly no right for any understanding or symphaty . Live your live as you want and let others do the same.

He never had a uterus or ovaries. How can he call himself a woman?
So what about women who have hysterectomies? They cannot call themselves women either? jones wrote in #5
So... if you a man, and if for some reason someone you thought you loved is a man not a woman which you thought he is... how would you feel? HE IS NOT SHE! Wow! How could anyone say he is a she?! He is not SHE! GET IT!? GET IT!?
No, she is a she. She has female anatomy, lives her life as a female, and is psychologically female. The only difference is that she cannot have children, but many women who were born as women cannot have children either, for various reasons, or because they had hysterectomies as I mentioned above. You know what the funniest thing about this is? While the rule is really about how "real" she is as a woman, In every picture where i've seen her with another contestant, she looks like a woman and the other ones look like they're made of plastic.as for my stance, woman is woman regardless of if they are born w ith the body of one or not. If she could make it in a beauty pagent, who are we to judge, the rest of the contestants are probably more fake during the process of the competition than her "not being a woman" ever is.
I agree completely.
He shouldn't be allowed to compete in a female beauty competition. Even if he no longer has the genitalia of a man, he is still male. Say you maliciously chop off someones nuts, would call him a female? I am all for homosexual rights, but trying to jump the gender barrier is going too far in my opinion.
Say what you will. This 'person' is a long, long way from being a man and any one of you, especially Tomasz, would have dated 'it' before you knew the truth.
Trust me, i live in Vancouver. And this guy is more pretier than many women's in this city. They are 90% fat and ugly. Remaining 10% which look good working in strip clubs or doing it for money, big money. But even considering all this he is not born women as rules states. And not only rules, he LIED on application which is major issue. This city is full of freaks and they are everywhere. But i am glad that he is disqualified as for me, beaty contest will not any more be it, it would be FREAK show and those i do not watch.
He never had a uterus or ovaries. How can he call himself a woman? He may feel like a woman trapped in a man's body, but that's just about all. It'll be a strange day when uterus and ovaries transplants become a reality. Even stranger when they become functional and men start giving birth to children...!?!?!?!

She is gorgeous. if she is even half as nice as her lovely smile, I would be proud for her to represent me and my country, Canada. as for where conservative lifestyles have gone? they are where they belong in a museum! Its time for these old institutions to come into the new millenium.
