The Uzbek President’s eldest daughter has tried her hand in fashion and music before finally turning to film. Gulnara Karimova has written a screenplay for a historical TV series that could star French actor Gerard Depardieu.

The leading light of French cinema has given “preliminary consent” to act in the film, olam.uz website reported.

The 63 year-old star of ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’ is tipped to appear as a monk from Europe in the story set in Central Asia during the 5th-6th Centuries.

The script was reportedly co-written by the head of the International Golden Leopard Film Festival in Uzbekistan, Akbar Khakimov, and Gulnara Karimova.

Depardieu’s latest comedy adventure, ‘Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia’, has been recently released in Uzbekistan.

40-year-old Karimova holds a Master of Arts degree from Harvard. She also took a design course at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, and has been creating clothes and jewelry for her brand ‘Guli’.

Last year organizers of New York Fashion Week cancelled her show after pressure from human rights activists, who accuse Karimova's father of serious human rights violations in Uzbekistan. They also claimed that the cotton used for her collection was produced using child labor.

When the president’s daughter is not busy cooking fashion trends, she is singing in English under her stage name ‘GooGooSha’.
