The death toll in Gaza has swelled to over 1,400 after more Israeli strikes on the small territory. Thursday, a single strike took the lives of 116 Palestinians, while Israeli forces suffered the loss of three soldiers. Despite growing worldwide outrage, including from top leaders at the UN who claim both Israel and Hamas are committing war crimes, US politicians have been reluctant to place any blame for the conflict on Israel. In a speech at a religious conference, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R – S.C.) told attendees that turning on Israel would make God turn on the US, and then told the UN to “shut-up” and get its facts straight about Gaza. RT’s Ameera David has the video.

With the recent downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, many are once again questioning what can be done to protect civilian aircraft from missiles and other projectiles. The idea gaining the most traction is equipping airliners with anti-missile defense systems mounted on the belly of the crafts. Using lasers, the systems would lock onto incoming projectiles and scramble their electronics, causing them to explode a safe distance from the plane. RT’s Manila Chan takes a look at the evolving technology and its implementation.
