Gazprom has again turned down the volume of Russian gas flowing to Belarus, cutting deliveries by 60%, and is planning to re-direct gas supplies to Europe.

Gazprom has had a particularly bad year as its reputation for reliability plummeted after the Ukrainian shutdown ( now Belarus). EU has no shale gas production as yet, the success of shale gas in North America has prompted geologists in a number of European countries to examine the productive possibilities of their own organic-rich shales. The shale gas in EU ( Poland, Germany, Hungary ...) is easy to reach and any natural gas produced can go into the European Union market. The first shale well in Europe will be drilled in June 2010 in Poland. Germany in Schwerin, Poland in Swinoujscie, Belgium, Finland are building LNG terminals ( gas import from Africa, Asia). Gazprom is losing marker -the facts speak for themselves.
