Business on the menu as President Obama comes to Moscow

Dmitry Medvedev will welcome Barack Obama on his first Presidential visit to Russia, with strategic issues likely to dominate the agenda but economic ties also looking to gain a boost.

Economic and business ties are an essential ingredient in any national bilaterlal development, in fact many would argue that they can be the most important, as 'money decides everything' as they say. Now there is a chance for business to be on an equal footing. When the Soviet union broke up, the US thought they had it made, they thought they could control Russia via a few oligarchs with western connections, much the way wall street controls the puppet government in the US. Putin broke this oligarch control, meaning the US had to deal with Russia as a country, and its economics as an indepenent sovereign entity. This ahs precipitated a fair and equitable national exchange environment, and we should be happy to see commercial development and deals struck based on sound business principles rather than US geopolitical control. The more we trade in a true buusiness sense, the more that we become intertwined, the more that our peoples feel mutual benefit and the more busienss contact they have the better. Yes we both have slightly different business styles, but that is something we both need to get used to, it is a cultural thing, neither will cahnge. There is no crime in being different!
