The southern Russian resort city of Sochi is hosting the Eighth International Investment Forum. Around eight thousand delegates from across the world will discuss investment, tax policy and energy efficiency.

Morgan Stanley has a lots of money? The taxpayers in US are really interested to hear that! And where is all this investment money coming from, all of a sudden? Could it be from the same source, those irresponsible private bankers that call themselves "Federal Reserve". Why, it is easy for them to get the money. They just make it up from the thin air! So that Morgan Stanley can go around the world and invest in something real. And then, another "liquidity" crisis will wipe out the producers, and the investment bankers pick up the choicest nuggets. If anyone falls for this again. I am though very interested in the concept of Private-Public partnerships now being talked about. It is a good way to go, provided that it does not emulate the western model, where private part of the partnership just assumes that the public part should be handed in for free. And the money is not everything. Every asset invested into parthership on behalf of the public, needs to be taken into consideration, become part of the full and honest accounting. Public partner needs to set up a public corporation, so that every penny of public assets is accounted for, and that the partnership should reflect the profit margins according to the full picture of who invested how much. There should be no state employees servicing private sector for free. Nor governments giving concessions in taxes or subsidised interest, for free. Nor land or infrastructure --- anything. All of it should be provided, and more, but with a clear accounting of how much is the real contribution by the public. The result of the partnership should be, in addition to the real renumeration to the public, a profit in the resulting business. That is the way to make sure that everyone has some "skin" in the business. And as for the investment bankers, good luck to any producer. They need to take a loss in bad investment, not just feel entitled to renumeration!
