Electricite de France is expected to sign an agreement on the South Stream gas pipeline with Gazprom during Prime Minister Putin's visit to Paris. The deal may reflect shifting European opinion on the project.

Of course the EU is seeing sense. This pipeline increases energy security for the EU, which is exactly what the EU wants. The EU is not going to be blackmailed by US proxys, it wants energy security, not US induced insecurity. The EU is starting to show it can act idependently and throw of the Washington sphere of influence. Yes the US has a master plan for causing energy cdisruption, but the EU looks to start to be strong enough to thwart the efforts and become masters of their own destiny, free from the Washington Banking elite.
