A recent law limiting foreign access to strategic sectors is not meant to put off investors in any way. Communications Minister Leonid Reiman says the new rules won’t affect the telecoms sector at all.
“I don’t think these restrictions are significant, they only concern large companies that dominate their sectors. Also, it’s not a direct limitation. It merely states the foreigners should obtain permission from the state if they want to buy large stakes in companies within these sectors,” he said.
