Russia bans grain exports

Russia has announced a temporary ban on grain exports from August 15 to December 1 in response to the worsening drought.

With fires continuing to rage, along with the weather getting hotter Business RT spoke with Vitaly Baikin, of Daiwa Capital Markets Europe about the impact on the Russian economy.
The current drought is leading to an increase in speculation on grain prices, which are rising while grain exports are forecast to slump, as analysts begin to factor in government intervention.
With grain prices spiking on the back of Russia’s drought Business RT spoke with Jack Bouroudjian, CEO of the Index Futures Group, about the impact.
Negotiators from around 200 countries worked towards an agreement on pollution controls at the climate summit in Denmark. While developing countries hope for subsidies, others had their eye on business opportunities.

Russia has announced a temporary ban on grain exports from August 15 to December 1 in response to the worsening drought.
Fortunately, the Russian Government and Central Bank have done a good policy to cut inflation during the last year from double diigit to under 6%. Without that policy now inflation could be skyrocketing like in Venezuela. Inflation is under control so the Central Bank will keep interest rates unchanged or will cut them by the end of the year.
