Europe’s move to phase out 60 watt light bulbs next year after banning 75 watt bulbs last week is also the future direction for Russia, as energy efficiency starts to take on a day to day meaning.

Forced choices is a form of market tyranny not good environmental practice. Looking at this lightbulb I see more needs for plastic, which is from crude oil., the gas filling the bulb is toxic to health, and the light travel of this bulb is horrible. It also gives off noise pollution and doesn't always last as long as advertised, many dying within weeks of purchase. They are much more expensive and due little to really change environmental impact, you are robbing Peter to pay Paul. This is just another form of profit and control of people and free market. Tell me how I will replace my lightbulb in the microwave and the oven. You can't heat these the same. LED has the same problem with light travel. "Assume yourself an idiot. Then assume yourself a politician. But I repeat myself." (paraphased from Mark Twain quote.) Nothing prevents ANYONE from choosing a this type a light bulb. Why must it be forced? Well, there is a reason and it isn't global warming, as this is perfect excuse for profiteering. I don't know who I hate more the lazy people who don't care about anything or the politicians who systematically destroy everything.

LED is the correct Option, CFL is already Outdated, instead of Switching to CFL, Every one should simply Change over to LED, other wise, It like using a 10year old technology and then change everything again in Which is a WASTE. LED is the latest, it does save power and it is slightly costlier than CFL. I see big scam in the making as Europe is switching to CFL instead of LED

This is a huge scam. The lamps do not last as advertised, I have tested that myself. The light is pathetic and sickly. And, looking at the instructions for disposal, I was horrified. The whole thing is ---- TOXIC. It is very dangerous for anyone to break it, and I am not sure that it is good for the environment at all. So, congratulations. We have just invented a MORE EXPENSIVE, NEW, LIGHBULB. They have learned this trick from detergents. Every now and then they come up with SMALLER package, that is SUPPOSEDLY 4-times more concentrated. Well, in reallity it is not so. But the PRICE is jacked up accordingly. The problem is, there is NO CHOICE. This will be with the bulbs. The only solution will be to MAIL the spend bulbs to the government, and let them figure out how to dispose of the blasted thing without poisoning onself or passing the buck to poison somebody else.

People are morons!!! Why do you want your options choosen for you by the government? Have you people no brains? LED light travel is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go buy yourself a LED flashlight! Light travel will never match regular light bulbs. So why do we have to be forced to buy something that one may not want. Some people have hobbies and work that has demands for different types of lighting. Does the government care? No!!! Even forcing to LED means a mass wave of consumers that will be forced to buy these lightbulbs which would make a manufacturer lobbying governments RICH!!!! And of course they are all for it because who doesn't like money. I hate the world we live in today. Government forces us to have poisonous argon and mercury bombs that can cost 2000$ to clean up by specialists if they break in your home. REAL SMART INNOVATION!!! People have these choices today, I see no reason we have to limit options just because Chicken Little is screaming the sky is falling. And as for these bulbs going in the trash! That is exactly where mine will go. Want to poison the lands, oh well fake greeners will have to reap what they sow when this stuff leaches into their drinking water.
